Robert Stein Winery

Stein Winery is one of our favourite places to send visitors looking for a genuine Mudgee food and wine experience. The Stein family has been growing grapes here since 1976, and the property combines a working vineyard, winery, farm and cellar door. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings, beautiful views across the Mudgee countryside and a vintage motorcycle display, with Stein Farm Produce also offering a farm-to-plate food experience. The winery’s regenerative farming approach is another reason we love recommending it. It is a great place to slow down, enjoy the scenery and experience some of what makes Mudgee’s wine region special.
Small Batch Brewery & Hop Farm

Small Batch Brewery & Hop Farm is a fantastic example of a Mudgee experience that combines great beer with the surrounding countryside. Located on 40 acres, the property is a working hop farm and small craft brewery, with beers brewed on-site using estate-grown hops and other local ingredients. The relaxed, rural setting makes it feel very different from a traditional brewery. Visitors can enjoy the beer garden, food, live music and beautiful views, while two on-site villas also make it possible to turn a visit into a weekend away. It is a great choice for anyone wanting something relaxed, local and a little different.
The Drip Walking Track

The Drip is one of the Mudgee region’s standout natural experiences and well worth the drive from town. The walking track follows the Goulburn River through the Goulburn River State Conservation Area to the spectacular Great Dripping Wall, a towering sandstone formation where water seeps and drips from the rock. The return walk takes around 1–1.5 hours and includes creek crossings, stairs and uneven rocky sections. The area is also significant to the local Wiradjuri people. After rain is an especially beautiful time to visit, when water flows from the sandstone walls. Pack a picnic and allow plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful part of the region.
Mr. X Coffee

For coffee lovers, Mr X is a local favourite and one we are particularly fond of. Mark Newman’s small-batch coffee roasting has become part of Mudgee’s local food culture, producing coffee that is enjoyed by cafés and coffee drinkers throughout the region. The coffee station at 90 Market Street offers visitors the opportunity to experience a genuinely local coffee business while exploring the town centre. We love supporting businesses like Mr X Roasters because they represent the independent, small-scale businesses that give Mudgee its character. If you enjoy good coffee and like discovering local producers rather than big chains, this is definitely worth seeking out.
Mudgee Pump Track

The Mudgee Pump Track is one of our favourite recommendations for families looking to get outside and burn off some energy. It is a fun, active space where kids can ride bikes, scooters and skateboards while enjoying the outdoors. The track is a great option when families have had enough of cellar doors and food stops and want something a little more active. It is also close enough to Mudgee to be an easy addition to a day out. We love that it gives local kids and visiting families somewhere fun to spend time outdoors and makes the region more enjoyable for visitors travelling with children.
Three Tails Brewery

Three Tails Brewery is a great spot for visitors wanting craft beer, good food and a relaxed atmosphere in town. The brewery has a Brooklyn-inspired bar, heritage shed and beer garden, with a rotating selection of craft beers alongside local wines, cocktails and plenty of food. It is the sort of place where you can settle in for a drink and a meal rather than simply stopping for a quick tasting. Three Tails is also family and dog friendly, making it an easy recommendation for groups travelling together. With live music and a relaxed atmosphere, it is a great place to finish a day exploring Mudgee.
